Bach Flower Remedies For Women and Teens

An upper middle class Indian mother and her teenage daughter sitting together at a teak wood table, warmly engaged in a conversation with amber glass flower essence dropper bottles and delicate fresh wildflowers arranged neatly between them

In Every Case The Remedies Sit Alongside Counselling, Not In Place of it.

Standard preparation used in these cases: 2 drops of each chosen remedy (up to 6–7 remedies) in a 30 ml dropper bottle of water, 4 drops 4 times a day. Rescue Remedy is 4 drops, as needed.

Children and teens: We use alcohol-free (glycerin) versions or a water-only treatment bottle kept in the fridge and replaced every few days. Parents consent is a must for under-18 clients.

Women

Burnout in a Working Mother

An upper middle class Indian working mother sitting at her home desk, briefly closing her eyes and resting her temple on her hand, holding a warm mug of tea, taking a quiet moment of calm relief amidst a laptop and scattered notebook on the desk

Client

Female, 38, bank branch manager, two children aged 6 and 10. Self-referred.

Initital Counselling

She said she was "running on empty": exhausted by evening, snapping at the children, then lying awake replaying the day. She said yes to every request at work and at home. She felt guilty resting. A GP check (blood count, thyroid, vitamin D) had come back normal.

Remedy picture: overwhelmed by responsibility (Elm), exhausted with nothing left (Olive), unable to say no (Centaury), guilt when resting (Pine), repetitive night-time thoughts (White Chestnut).

Problem Solving

Remedy mix: Elm, Olive, Centaury, Pine, White Chestnut. 4 drops 4 times a day, including one dose at bedtime.

Sessions 1–2: Mapped her week hour by hour. Identified three tasks she could delegate and one she could drop.

Sessions 3–4: Assertiveness practice. Scripted and role-played two "no" conversations, one with her mother-in-law and one with a colleague.

Session 5: Reviewed the mix. Olive was removed as energy improved. Walnut was added to support a planned change in her working hours.

Result

After 8 weeks she reported sleeping through most nights and taking one evening a week for herself. She negotiated a fixed finish time two days a week. Follow-up was set for one month later.

Perimenopause Irritability And Low Self-worth

An upper middle class Indian woman in her early 40s sitting peacefully on a cozy window bench wrapped in a soft cardigan, tenderly holding a warm cup of herbal tea, taking a mindful pause to ground herself

Client

Female, 47, homemaker and part-time tutor. Referred by her gynaecologist, who was managing her perimenopause symptoms.

Initital Counselling

She described sudden anger at small things, followed by shame. She disliked her changing body and avoided photos. Her children were preparing to leave home and she wondered "what I am for now." PHQ-9 was 9 (mild), with no thoughts of self-harm.

Remedy picture: irritability and impatience (Impatiens), feeling unclean or disliking her body (Crab Apple), lack of confidence (Larch), adjusting to life change (Walnut), nostalgia for when the children were young (Honeysuckle).

Problem Solving

Remedy mix: Impatiens, Crab Apple, Larch, Walnut, Honeysuckle.

Sessions 1–2: Psychoeducation on how hormonal shifts affect mood, so the anger felt less like a personal failure. Tracked anger triggers against her cycle and sleep.

Sessions 3–5: Explored her identity beyond motherhood. She listed things she enjoyed before marriage and chose to restart classical singing.

Session 6: Mirror and body-appreciation exercise, paired with Crab Apple as the daily anchor.

Result

After 10 weeks, PHQ-9 was 4. Anger episodes dropped from daily to about once a week. She joined a singing class and began offering more tutoring. Her gynaecologist continued medical management of her symptoms.

Exam Anxiety Before Class 12 Boards

A 17-year-old upper middle class Indian male science student sitting at a warm wooden study desk with physics textbooks open, taking a deep breath of relief as he talks with a warm, supportive therapist sitting comfortably nearby

Client

Male, 17, science stream, preparing for board exams and an engineering entrance test. Brought by his mother after he froze during a mock exam.

Initital Counselling

He described going blank in exams despite knowing the material. He studied late into the night, compared his scores with friends' and felt he would "let everyone down." Headaches and stomach aches on test days. GAD-7 was 12 (moderate). His paediatrician had ruled out a physical cause for the symptoms.

Remedy picture: fear of a known event (Mimulus), panic and going blank (Rock Rose), lack of confidence despite ability (Larch), high self-imposed standards (Rock Water), doubting his own judgment and seeking others' opinions (Cerato).

Problem Solving

Remedy mix: Mimulus, Larch, Rock Water, Cerato, 4 times a day. Rescue Remedy (alcohol-free) on exam mornings and before entering the exam hall.

Sessions 1–2: Separated his goals from his parents' expectations, with a joint session where his parents agreed to stop discussing other children's scores.

Sessions 3–4: Taught box breathing and a 2-minute grounding routine for the exam hall. Rehearsed it during two timed mock papers.

Session 5: Built a study timetable with a fixed 11 pm cut-off and one free hour daily.

Result

He completed his next two mocks without freezing. GAD-7 dropped to 6. He used the breathing routine and Rescue Remedy during the board exams. A post-results session was scheduled, whatever the scores.

Withdrawal After a Friendship Break-up

A 17-year-old upper middle class Indian male science student sitting at a warm wooden study desk with physics textbooks open, taking a deep breath of relief as he talks with a warm, supportive therapist sitting comfortably nearby

Client

Female, 15, Class 10. Referred by the school counsellor after her grades dropped and she stopped going to lunch with classmates.

Initital Counselling

Her close friend group had excluded her after a misunderstanding, and she was the target of a mean group chat. She spent breaks in the library and evenings in her room. She felt sorry for herself and resentful ("why always me"). She was sleeping and eating normally. A risk screen showed no thoughts of self-harm, and the school was informed about the group chat with her consent.

Remedy picture: shock of the event (Star of Bethlehem), self-pity and resentment (Willow), withdrawal and preferring to be alone (Water Violet), discouragement after a setback (Gentian), lingering hurt and anger (Holly).

Problem Solving

Remedy mix: Star of Bethlehem (first 2 weeks only), Willow, Water Violet, Gentian, Holly.

Sessions 1–2: Let her tell the story fully. Validated the hurt without blaming either side. Agreed what she wanted: not to rebuild the old group, but to feel safe at school.

Sessions 3–4: Social skills practice: starting a conversation, joining a group activity. She chose the school's art club.

Session 5: Parent session on monitoring without policing her phone, and on noticing warning signs.

Result

After 7 weeks she had two new friends from the art club and was eating lunch with them. Grades recovered in the next unit test. The school counsellor continued weekly check-ins.
